Position Overview
Basecamp Motorsports is a powersports dealership specializing in ATV, SXS, and snowmobile sales, service, parts, and rentals. We are seeking an experienced Accountant to oversee the day-to-day accounting operations of our organization while leading a small accounting team.
This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who thrives in an operational environment and enjoys balancing strategic financial oversight with execution. The Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing month-end and year-end financials, and ensuring strong internal controls across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and manage a small accounting team, providing guidance, coaching, and performance oversight
- Oversee daily accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements and supporting schedules
- Manage the year-end close process and act as the primary liaison with external accountants and auditors
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax requirements, and internal policies
- Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls and accounting procedures
- Monitor cash flow, working capital, and key financial metrics
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Support management with financial analysis and ad hoc reporting as needed
Qualifications & Experience
- 3–5 years of progressive experience in an accounting or controller-level role
- Demonstrated experience leading or supervising a small accounting or finance team
- Strong experience preparing year-end financials and working with external accountants
- Solid understanding of full-cycle accounting and day-to-day financial operations
- Experience in a retail, dealership, automotive, or inventory-driven business is considered a strong asset
- Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel (ERP experience considered an asset)
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines

Education & Credentials
- Working toward CPA is considered a strong asset
- Equivalent practical experience will be considered in place of formal education
