Job Purpose: The Landscape Construction Team Lead is responsible for installing and managing landscape and hardscape projects. They are responsible for completing landscape and hardscape installations with great precision and business-minded efficiency while following the Calgary Landscape Management policies and procedures.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
General Responsibilities/Requirements
- Knowledge of landscape and construction techniques and practices. (Laying sod, planting trees and bushes, creating beds)
- Knowledge of landscape and construction terminology.
- Proficient heavy equipment operating skills including front end loaders, mini-excavators, and skid steer machinery with various attachments; other construction equipment as needed.
- Track and record all time and material at sites, as well as other expenses.
- Proposes and recommends specifications for quotes.
- Prepares work reports, keeps a log of inspections, and performs related duties as required.
- Corresponds with contractors and/or field operations staff and advises of work requirements.
- Ability to understand and execute oral and written instruction.
- Ability to interpret plans and specifications related to the work assigned.
- Ability to work outdoors for extended periods and under unfavorable weather conditions as required by the work assigned.
- Direct activities on the job site, include but are not limited to: coordinating workflow, hands-on work, and operating a variety of machinery
- Ensures that all crew members utilize all required personal protective equipment
- Ensures that all installation work is performed in accordance with industry and company standards
- Ensures that all equipment safety and maintenance procedures are followed
- Train and promote the development of subordinates in the best practices of installation and company standards ·
- Monitor all tools, equipment, and machinery for needed maintenance
- Maintain a clean and safe job site at all times
- Participates in and conducts all job site safety briefings with crew members
- Supervises and helps during the performance of all assigned work
- Ensures that all safety rules and company safety policies are adhered to.
- Participates in all safety training sessions
- Communicates well with all crew members, supervisor, and client
- Good time management skills; be available for extended hours
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task
Daily Organization of Landscape Maintenance Operations on Site
· Fill out the daily site sheet completely and hand it into the office at the end of each shift.
· Take only your assigned trucks and equipment, and ensure your employees do the same as well.
· Organize your crew on-site to ensure safety and efficiency are kept at the forefront.
· Monitor your crew to make sure they are following safe job procedures, safe work practices, and the job is doing done to the highest of standards.
· Ensure your truck is emptied at the end of the shift as per company policy.
Non-Landscape Construction Related Duties / Necessary Attributes
· Non-Landscape Construction-related tasks may be requested of a Landscape Construction Foreman as required by our clients and contractual obligations.
o This position is a seasonal job, the ideal candidate will assume the role of Sanding Lead in the winter months.
General Requirements of all Employees
· Ensure that all incident reports/near miss reports are filled out correctly and handed into the office in a timely manner for incidents involving any member of the crew.
· Comply with any requests made by the Health and Safety Officer and management.
· Notify the Health and Safety Officer of any unsafe acts or conditions on-site in a timely manner.
Expectations from Management
· Flexibility is expected, where possible and reasonable, to ensure that the customers’ requests are dealt with in a timely manner.
· Employees and Management will be dealt with in a professional, courteous and positive manner. All issues with personnel are dealt with in a timely manner and if required use the Operations Managers to help solve the issue.
· Communication is to occur between the irrigation and Operations Manager to include all relevant information.
· The head of the Maintenance Department and the Landscape Construction Team Lead are to communicate to ensure that all vehicle deficiencies are dealt with in a timely manner.
· All issues will be dealt with in a timely manner where possible.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $23.00-$27.00 per hour
