We are a newly established Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery practice in Ottawa, ON, seeking a highly motivated and experienced Certified Level II Dental Assistant or Registered Practical Nurses (RPN) to join our team.

Our practice is led by two Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons with additional specialty training in Prosthodontics, allowing us to provide a uniquely comprehensive approach that integrates advanced surgical care with restorative expertise.

Role Overview
The Certified Dental Assistant will be an integral member of our surgical team, working closely with surgeons and clinical staff to support a wide range of oral and maxillofacial procedures.
This role combines clinical precision with compassionate patient care, including chairside surgical assistance, maintaining strict sterilization and infection control protocols, preparing patients for procedures, and ensuring a supportive and reassuring experience throughout their visit.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide chairside assistance during oral and maxillofacial surgery procedures
- Prepare patients for treatment, review and update medical histories, and offer reassurance
- Set up, maintain, and sterilize surgical instruments, equipment, and operatories
- Take and process dental radiographs (HARP certification required)
- Accurately document treatment in digital patient records
- Support post-operative care, including patient and family instructions
- Collaborate with administrative staff to support scheduling and treatment coordination
- Adhere to all infection prevention and control (IPAC) standards and safety protocols
Skills & Qualifications
- Certified Level II Dental Assistant in Ontario (NDAEB certification required)
- HARP certification for dental radiography
- Current CPR certification (BLS)
- 1–3 years of clinical experience preferred but willing to train and open to new grads (oral surgery experience is an asset)
- Strong knowledge of sterilization and infection control standards
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in digital charting (experience with Curve Dental is an asset)
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable in a surgical environment
- Takes initiative, works well in a fast paced environment, ability to multitask
