Heart Lake Veterinary Hospital is currently seeking an experienced full time Veterinary Assistant / Receptionist to join our dedicated privately-owned Veterinary Hospital in Brampton, Ontario. (Not Corporate)

Responsibilities:
- Excellent customer service skills; greeting clients with sincerity, a real aptitude for putting patients and clients at ease and creating a welcoming environment
- Ability to stay calm in stressful situations, professional during difficult conversations, and maintaining a positive, low-stress atmosphere for our patients and clients
- Ability to answer and handle a multiline phone system and track and book appointments effectively
- Enters or updates new and current client and pet information into Avimark
- Invoicing and billing, creating and explaining estimates with confidence, obtaining pet owner consent and collecting payments
- Respond and manage all email correspondence with clients, referring veterinarians etc., stay on top of daily worklists and client follow ups while effectively creating notes in patient files for all client communication
- Willingness to continue learning and growing in your career with; pet nutrition, veterinary services, updated medical office procedures, and furthering skills assisting the veterinary staff with various tasks and treatments
- Assisting veterinarians and technicians during consultations, procedures, surgery and dentistry but also taking initiative to work independently and stay productive during downtime
- Animal care, monitoring, handling and restraint
- Performing in-house laboratory tests
- Sterilizing equipment and maintaining the cleanliness of reception, examination areas, kennels, treatment area, common areas, general housekeeping duties
- Have the ability to meet the physical requirements of the position as well as lift 20 kg

Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- 8 Hour shift between the hours of 8am and 7pm with 1hr unpaid lunch break
- Closed on weekends
