It’s tough in our industry these days, and all of us are looking for the same thing: Experienced lead technicians to hit the ground running with little additional training, and just get things done, while leading the generation of new techs.
There are a lot of incredible techs out there – maybe you are one of them. Maybe finding that you are just not vibing with your current company. Maybe you are on the verge of lead tech at your company but there’s too many lead techs, and you’re looking for a new challenge. Or maybe you’re tired of super industrial work and are looking to do more of a variety including smaller duty commercial. We have it all!
Let us tell you a bit about what makes Doormaster different:
-We are currently a small to medium sized company. Right now we have 6 trucks on the road.
- We are looking for a lead tech to take over a lot of the specialty work (docks, gates, high speed, welding, electrical & the weird stuff that mostly Matt does)
- We install and service many products, including residential, commercial and industrial overhead doors, rolling doors, gates, grilles, electric operators, access controls, man doors, high speed doors, barrier arms… all the things.
- We are in it for the long haul. We opened our doors in 1980’s and are still going strong. In January 2025, we officially transitioned ownership from the original owner (Hans) to Matt, Shanna & Colleen.
- We are fully self supporting financially. We always pay our bills, and always pay our employees
- We are completely hands on. Your leaders are local, and the decision makers are right there working with you.
- We love training! We want you to keep learning. Take courses. Get certified in things. And we’ll pay for it!
- We care what you have to say. We want to learn from you, your experience, and use that to help us implement new ways. Know of an amazing product we don’t carry? Tell us and we’ll bring it in. Thing we are selling something that is not right for an application? Tell us and we are happy to hear it. YOU matter. For real.
The Basics & Compensation:
- We provide truck, tools, phone, gas card, and ferry card (for travel to our Sunshine Coast location – food and accommodations also provided on out of town work)
- You drive the truck home at night and are dispatched from your house in the morning if your jobs are close to home, and if the shop is on the way to your job you report to our Burnaby shop.
- Competitive pay based on experience. We hear going rate varies these days, with top techs earning over $50 per hour.
- Medical/Dental at 80% coverage, and vision
- Overtime/after hours – we currently have 4 techs on a weekly rotation. If we hire you, you’d be expected to participate. We aren’t SUPER busy on call, maybe 3 calls a weekend and one or two during the week typically. Double time paid for OT before midnight, Triple time after midnight.
- flexible schedule. We get it, life happens. We expect 8 hours a day, but if sometimes that 8 hours needs to start a bit earlier or later, we are ok with that. Kids get sick, doctors and dentists need to be seen to stay healthy – work with us and we’ll work with you.
- Travel – we do have a location in Gibsons. There is travel over there depending on the scope of work that needs to be done. During peak season, it is typically 2 days/1 night every 2 weeks. The coast is absolutely stunning an accommodations are provided.
