The Position:
The Director Human Resources will manage day-to-day human resource activities as well as being a strategic consultative partner to the management team. The Director Human Resources will also promote company culture and values, execute people initiatives, internal customer partnership, drive HR functional excellence and process improvement in a location with 150+ team members. This is an in-office position in Brampton.

Principal Responsibilities:
· Advise management on designing the organization, planning the allocation of work and defining jobs so that the efficiency and effectiveness of the Company are optimized.
· Develop fair and effective hiring processes to ensure that Empack Spraytech hires/selects the most qualified people for jobs and prepares individuals for promotion and advancement.
· Develop and manage the compensation and benefits programs, including how performance excellence is rewarded and recognized.
· Provide leadership in developing and implementing safety policies and procedures and ensure Empack Spraytech complies with all relevant safety legislation.
· Approve the formal training and development plan for all employees to ensure that they possess the required skills and that they learn and develop continuously. This involves developing/selecting training and development programs, talent assessment, recommending appropriate courses to supervisors, coordinating the orientation program, health and safety training, and evaluating training programs and activities.
· Develop and support performance management processes by providing training and tools to management for planning objectives, skills gap analysis, evaluating performance, and dealing with employee conflict and performance issues.
· Liaise with government agencies to ensure compliance. Inform the President and the Senior Management Team of all issues and activities that impact the Company’s obligations under the applicable legislation and standards, e.g., health and safety, and employment standards. Recommend strategies for ensuring compliance and implement actions to remedy issues and problems.
· Keep abreast of changes in the profession of human resource management, e.g., current trends, processes and technologies, through personal research, networking and attending conferences and courses.
· As part of the senior management team, develop and refine business and strategic plans for Empack Spraytech. Submit for approval the yearly operating budget for Human Resources, monitor expenditures against plans, explain variances and develop and implement remedial action to ensure budgets are achieved.
Experience/Qualifications
· Degree or diploma in human resources management, industrial relations or business administration
· Five years of management experience in industrial relations or human resources
· Certification as a Certified Human Resources Leader or Executive (CHRL or CHRE)
· Strong knowledge of the legislation and standards related to human resources (e.g., Employment Standards)
· U.S. HR experience would be an asset
· Excellent English language skills
· Strong analytical and computer skills
