Walden is a traditional co-ed overnight camp located in Palmer Rapids, Ontario. Set on 750 beautiful acres, campers make life-long friends and lasting memories while participating in a variety of land and water activities. Camp Nurse at Camp Walden
Camp Walden is seeking a qualified and compassionate Camp Nurse to join our team for the summer season from June 20th-August 13th. As a Camp Nurse, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the health and safety of our campers and staff, while being a part of a team that consists of nursing students, healthcare coordinators, and rotating camp doctors who are on call/available 24/7.
Responsibilities include:
- Administering and dispensing medications to campers and staff as prescribed
- Assisting in clinics after breakfast and dinner for campers and staff
- Maintaining accurate medical records on all campers and staff
- Communicating with parents and guardians about their child’s health status when necessary
- Providing first-aid and emergency care as necessary
- Collaborating with other members of the camp staff to ensure the health and safety of campers
- Additional tasks as identified by the Healthcare coordinators
Qualifications:
- Current active RN or RPN Ontario License or the ability to obtain prior to the camp season
- Previous pediatric experience an asset but not required
- Previous camp experience an asset but not required
- Practice according to the Standards of Practice set out by the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
- Have active Professional Liability Protection (PLP) insurance set out by the CNO
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
