We are hiring for a company in the
transportation industry with an immediate opening for a
Weight & Inspection Clerk in Barrie, ON
Start Date: Immediately
Shift: Evenings | 3PM Start
Location: Barrie, ON
Rate: $19.50/hr
Responsibilities:
- Inspect freight on the dock to verify shipment accuracy
- Confirm freight matches the Bill of Lading (BOL), including piece count, weight, dimensions, labels, and shipper information
- Measure and record freight dimensions and weights into the company system
- Identify and document discrepancies such as incorrect weights, freight class, damaged freight, missing labels, or paperwork issues
- Take photos and document shipment exceptions when required
- Communicate with dispatch, billing, dock supervisors, OS&D, and drivers regarding shipment issues
- Help ensure accurate freight billing and minimize customer disputes
- Maintain accurate records and follow company safety procedures
Requirements:
- Previous experience in transportation, LTL, shipping/receiving, warehouse administration, or dock operations is an asset
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Comfortable working in a busy dock environment
- Ability to read and interpret Bills of Lading (BOLs) and shipping documents
- Basic computer and data entry skills
- Able to lift, measure, and inspect freight as needed
- Strong communication and organizational skills
