Part-Time Baker - Mimi’s Focaccia
Location: Vancouver, BC
Job Type: Part-time / Event-based
Pay: $20/hour + pooled tips
About Mimi’s
Mimi’s Focaccia House is a small (but quickly growing!) Vancouver bakery specializing in focaccia, focaccia hot dogs, pop-ups, catering and events.
We’re looking for another part-time baker to join our production team. We’ve grown a lot over the past year and have some exciting things ahead, so we’re looking for people who are excited to grow alongside us and become key members of the team.
Right now, this is an event-based position, meaning hours will vary week to week depending on our production schedule. As Mimi’s continues to grow, there is lots of opportunity for the role to grow too - whether that means more hours, more responsibility, or taking on a bigger role within the business.
One important thing to know: very early morning and graveyard production shifts are a regular part of this job. We want to be upfront about that! Our baking schedule revolves around events, and sometimes that means making focaccia while the rest of Vancouver is asleep.
What you’ll be doing
- Mixing, preparing and baking focaccia and other Mimi’s products
- Following recipes and production lists accurately
- Prepping ingredients and helping with general kitchen production
- Working efficiently to meet production deadlines
- Keeping your workspace clean, organized and food-safe
- Helping wherever needed during busy production days
Who we’re looking for
Some previous baking, kitchen or food-production experience is required. You definitely don’t need to be a professionally trained baker, but you should be comfortable in a kitchen and understand the pace of food production.
We’d love to find someone who:
- Has some previous baking, kitchen or food-production experience
- Learns quickly and moves with urgency
- Is reliable and takes ownership of their work
- Is organized and pays attention to the little things
- Brings a positive attitude and contributes to a good working environment
- Is comfortable working independently once trained
- Is available for very early morning and/or graveyard production shifts
- Is comfortable with a schedule that varies from week to week
- Wants to grow with a small business and is excited about taking on more responsibility over time
