Job Overview
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Assistant Camp Manager to support the daily operations of our camp facility. Camp Dorset is a respite care camp and Dialysis clinic, where extended family of dialysis patients can vacation together without traveling back to their hospital every 2 days. From October to June, we offset the cost of the summer camp and clinic by renting to other community organizations.
This role involves maintaining and troubleshooting the physical infrastructure of the camp, while the Nurses and Technicians treat the patients.
The ideal candidate will be a multi-skilled tradesperson and life-long learner, willing to study and pass eLearning classes such as Walkerton Clean Water Course, Ontario Workplace Supervisor, and Ontario Health and Safety.
Duties
- Assist the Camp Manager in actively maintaining camp systems, including daily water system operation, swimming pool maintenance, landskeeping.
- Liaise with Nurses, Technicians and Med Centre Admin to ensure dialysis treatment centre infrastructure is fully operational, and resolve any problems their patients encounter.
- Analyse and correct any issues that may arise with our 14 cottages, 15 motel-rooms and 6 campsites
- Participate in the guest events that make Camp Dorset special: potluck dinners, evening campfires, movie night etc.
- Support other staff with problem diagnosis, small engine maintenance, plumbing, cleaning and a myriad of problems, equipment movement and repair
- In general, work with the Camp Manager, and other departments to ensure smooth functioning of camp activities and facilities
- Support budgeting efforts by monitoring expenses and optimizing resource allocation
- Enforce safety standards to maintain a secure environment for guests and staff
- Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and staff developmentSkills
- Excellent customer service skills with empathy and a professional demeanor
- Effective communication skills, including phone etiquette and interpersonal abilities
- Leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and supervise a diverse team
- Strong personal organization skills with attention to detail in accomplishing tasks by priority while maintaining guest relations.
Pay: From $25.00 per hour
