About the Role
Kimola Construction Ltd. is looking for a skilled, reliable, and leadership-oriented Carpenter Lead Hand to join our team in Maple Ridge. This is a physically demanding role that requires a high level of technical expertise and the ability to guide a small crew (3-4 people) through various stages of construction.
Core Responsibilities
- Technical Execution: Read and interpret blueprints and drawings; build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect wall and roof systems.
- Layout & Compliance: Prepare layouts using measuring tools while ensuring full conformance to BC building codes.
- Leadership: Supervise a team of 3-4 workers, including instructing and mentoring apprentices.
- Project Oversight: Manage a large workload under tight deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Your role involves creating the molds for high-end residential and commercial buildings where the concrete is the final face of the building.
- Forming Systems: Expert use of Easy Strip and Snap Tie forming systems
- Precision Layouts: Prepare layouts in strict conformance to building codes and architectural sketches.
- Blueprint Literacy: Read and interpret complex drawings to calculate precise material requirements.
- Material Versatility: Measure, cut, and join wood, wood substitutes, and lightweight steel.
- Structural Elements: Build footings, foundations, frost walls, drops, and erect trusses according to layout.
- Pumping Integration: Must be Familiarity with Concrete Pumping operations.
- Assist in the coordination of machinery and labor to move liquid concrete to specific, often difficult, locations on-site is a key asset to our workflow.Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: 5+ years of professional carpentry experience.
- Education: Other trades certificate or diploma.
- Certifications & Safety: Must be bondable; valid driver’s licence and own transportation are required.
- Skills: Proficiency with hand tools and the ability to work in various environments (at heights, confined spaces, and outdoors).
- Physical Demands: Ability to handle heavy loads and perform tasks involving bending, crouching, and kneeling.
- Personal Suitability: We value punctuality, accuracy, and excellent communication (oral and written). You should be a team player with strong judgment and a client-focused mindset.
Working Conditions
- Environment: Fast-paced, noisy, dusty, and primarily outdoors.
- Equipment Required: You must provide your own steel-toed boots, hard hat, and safety glasses.
