The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Crane Operator / Class 1 Driver to join our transportation team.
This position is responsible for the safe delivery of trusses, wall panels, engineered wood products, and timber packages throughout British Columbia. The successful candidate will operate folding boom cranes and commercial vehicles while representing Kamloops Truss professionally at customer sites.
This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in operating equipment safely, maintaining vehicles and trailers, and providing exceptional service to customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate Class 1 vehicles and folding boom cranes.
- Deliver trusses, wall panels, engineered wood products, and timber packages to customer sites.
- Complete all deliveries in accordance with BC Crane Safe, CVSE, DOT, and WorkSafeBC requirements.
- Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and crane inspections.
- Complete routine maintenance, lubrication, and housekeeping of trucks, trailers, cranes, and work areas.
- Secure loads and verify deliveries before departure.
- Communicate professionally with customers, contractors, dispatch, and production teams.
- Assist with Roller Truck and Shop Truck deliveries as required.
- Support loading, unloading, and material handling activities when necessary.
- Participate in safety meetings, inspections, and company training programs.
- Report equipment concerns, maintenance requirements, and safety issues promptly.
What You Bring
- Valid Class 1 Driver's Licence.
- Clean Driver's Abstract.
- Valid BC Crane Safe Folding Boom Certification (22 Tonnes and Under) or ability to obtain.
- Experience operating folding boom cranes in the construction or building materials industry.
- Strong understanding of load securement and transportation regulations.
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to identify maintenance concerns.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Dependable attendance and commitment to safety.
- Ability to work independently while remaining a strong team player.
