We are a busy, innovative custom framing and print studio looking for a visually creative, enthusiastic Designer to join our small, collaborative team. This is a client-facing design role, with a variety of responsibilities across consultation, sales, and light production support. It is a seasonal position running from August to the end of December 2026, covering our busiest stretch of the year. Our clients range from individuals and families to fine art galleries, museums, and corporations, so the work asks for someone who can think creatively, communicate visually, and work with precision, knowing when to push design boundaries and when to respect visual tradition.
What You'll Do
- Design custom framing solutions through collaborative client consultations
- Translate ideas, emotions, and artwork into strong visual concepts
- Deliver engaging, professional design experiences for a wide range of clients
- Balance creative exploration with established design and framing principles
- Assist clients in-store, by phone, and over email
- Provide guidance on custom framing, printing, and related products
- Process orders, payments, and pickups accurately
- Support light production tasks and collaborate with the production team
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming studio
- Handle personal artwork and photographs with care and attention

Qualifications
- Understanding of colour theory and visual balance
- Comfort with math (fractions and decimals)
- Sales or customer service experience
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Proactive communicator
- High attention to detail and organization
- Comfortable with computers and POS systems
- Availability for weekdays and Saturdays (no Sundays)
- Available for the full seasonal term, August through the end of December 2026
Assets (Not Required, But Valued)
- Art history knowledge or visual literacy
- Visually creative hobbies (drawing, painting, sewing, sculpture, digital art, etc.)
- Strong emotional intelligence, which is truly important here, since we work with meaningful, personal artwork and photographs
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop
- Background in framing, gallery work, interior design, or a related visual field
