Canadian Maritime Engineering Ltd. (CME) is seeking a Project Manager to join our Victoria team.
CME is a marine and industrial contractor serving commercial, government, and defence clients across the West Coast. Our Victoria operation is focused on mobile marine repair, maintenance, and refit work, supporting customers both on-site and in active operating environments.
We are looking for a hands-on Project Manager with marine industry experience who can coordinate repair and refit work from planning through completion, work closely with operations and production teams, and maintain strong communication with customers and internal stakeholders.
Position Summary
The Project Manager will be responsible for the planning, coordination, execution, and closeout of assigned marine repair and refit projects based out of our Victoria operation. This role will work closely with operations, production, procurement, subcontractors, and customers to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget.
This position is well suited to someone with practical project management experience in a marine repair, refit, maintenance, vessel service, or industrial field service environment who is comfortable managing multiple priorities and supporting work in a hands-on operational setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage assigned marine repair, maintenance, and refit projects from award through completion
- Plan and coordinate labour, materials, subcontractors, and equipment required to execute work
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, progress updates, and resource plans
- Coordinate with operations, field crews, production personnel, procurement, subcontractors, and customers to ensure project requirements are met
- Monitor project costs, labour performance, material status, and overall project progress
- Act as a primary point of contact for customers on assigned projects and maintain strong communication throughout execution
- Prepare and maintain project documentation including work plans, status reports, change documentation, and closeout packages
- Identify project risks, issues, and opportunities and escalate where required
- Support procurement planning, material coordination, subcontractor engagement, and schedule alignment
- Contribute to continuous improvement in project execution, planning, and communication across the Victoria operation
Qualifications
- Minimum 3–5 years of project management experience in a marine repair, refit, maintenance, vessel service, or industrial field service environment
- Strong coordination and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Experience working with operations, trades, subcontractors, and customers in a project setting
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and work scopes
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Experience with cost tracking, scheduling, progress reporting, and project documentation
- Practical knowledge of fabrication, mechanical, electrical, or vessel repair work is considered an asset
Preferred Experience
- Experience managing marine repair, maintenance, or refit projects
- Familiarity with customer-facing mobile service or field-based marine operations
- Trade background, engineering technologist background, or equivalent practical experience is considered an asset
