The Role
The Associate Director; Education & Student Life plays a key leadership role in supporting the day-to-day operations, strategic planning, and overall success of North Shore Academy (NSA). This role assists with the implementation of NSA’s mission, vision, and values through collaborative leadership, operational excellence, and community engagement.
Reporting to the Director of Education, the selected candidate will work as a key member of the operational management team. You will work in a collaborative and consultative manner with school stakeholders to support the mission, vision, and values of North Shore Academy. You are accountable to school stakeholders with regards to upholding the requirements for operating a school in the province of British Columbia; including but not limited to curriculum delivery, student safety, and ensuring UDL (Universal Design for Learning) in accordance with our BC Ministry of Education partner Navigate NIDES.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist support staff, administration, & teachers in operation of day-to-day education deliverables
- Assist with managing daily school operations, ensuring smooth and efficient functioning; including but not limited to coordination of transportation, extra-curricular activities, & leadership opportunities
- Assist with the admissions, retention, and recruitment of new students & program partners
- Assist with the development of strategic marketing and promotional strategies to engage with the broader community through various social media channels
- Identify and recommend comprehensive plan(s) for new school programming
- Establish specialized programs that support student life & wellness; supervise implementation of said program(s)
- Act as a key stakeholder with parents, students, & community partners
- Lead and coordinate PAC (Parent Advisory Council) and SAC (Student Advisory Council) initiatives within the local & broader community
- Identify & implement mental health initiatives and supports for students
- Identify & assign certified staff/support as qualified to support both education & student-life programming
Requirements
- Bachelor of Education; Master’s Degree considered an asset
- B.C. Teaching Certificate
- Experience in Educational Leadership
- Classroom experience (3-5 years preferred)
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, public relations, and teamwork skills
- Strong oral and written skills
- Self-starter; ability to work independently and as a team member
- Initiative to prioritize student success
