Description:
As a Mental Health Aide, you will work as a collaborative member of the multidisciplinary team to provide a welcoming and safe care environment. You will assist in the provision of direct patient/client care as delegated in a person-centered, recovery oriented and safe manner. In this position, you will assist and / or promote independence to patients/clients in completing activities of daily living as well as assisting other health professionals with providing treatments and observing and reporting relevant patient/client information to professional staff. You will assist new patients/clients and families with orientation, and assist in the general support of the work area.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 12. A combination of education and experience satisfactory to the employer will also be considered.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Candidates must have a minimum of two years of experience working with youth and families, preferably in mental health or addictions settings. Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport while maintaining professional boundaries is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience managing behaviors in a high-acuity or crisis environment, knowledge of substance use, withdrawal management, and recovery-oriented care, training in or familiarity with trauma-informed practice and youth engagement approaches, demonstrated ability to support therapeutic and recreational programming for youth, experience working with Indigenous communities and culturally responsive care, with an understanding of the impacts of colonization and intergenerational trauma.
