Summary
The Outside Sales Representative is responsible for developing new business opportunities while maintaining and growing existing customer relationships. They will utilize knowledge of the company's products and customer base to drive sales growth and achieve annual sales targets. They are responsible for prospecting new accounts, retaining existing customers, and identifying opportunities to expand business within current and emerging markets.
Job Duties

Develop new customer relationships while maintaining and growing existing accounts

Promote and sell a full line of building material products to builders, contractors, developers, and industrial clients

Conduct on-site visits with new and existing customers

Track jobs and update sales progress regularly

Prepare quotes, material lists, and follow up on deliveries

Identify customer needs and coordinate execution of orders

Prospect and bid for new business opportunities
-
Achieve weekly, monthly, and annual sales targets
-
Maintain detailed customer contact lists and schedules
-
Stay current on industry trends, products, and market conditions
-
Utilize sales reports and customer buying patterns to identify opportunities
-
Make cold calls to prospective customers
-
Maintain a strong focus on customer service and professionalism

Act as an ambassador of the company with customers and coworkers

Comply with company policies, procedures, and safety requirements
Education, Experience and Knowledge

The following qualifications are required:

3 – 5 years of experience in the building and construction supply sales industry

Strong communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills

Excellent organizational and time management skills

Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail

Ability to manage changing priorities and meet deadlines

Strong understanding of sales methods and customer service practices
-
Intermediate computer skills, including MS Office Suite

Experience with Bistrack software would be considered an asset

Strong math skills
-
Professional appearance and demeanor
-
Supply Chain Management training or understanding would be an asset

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
