Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Custodian to join our facilities team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across our commercial and institutional facilities. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to a well-maintained space that promotes health, safety, and professionalism. Prior experience in cleaning or facilities maintenance is preferred but not required, as training will be provided.
Duties
- Perform routine cleaning of floors, windows, restrooms, and common areas using appropriate cleaning supplies and equipment
- Conduct commercial cleaning tasks including dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and trash removal
- Maintain cleanliness of all facility surfaces to ensure a hygienic environment
- Assist with basic facilities maintenance such as replacing light bulbs, minor repairs, and reporting larger issues to management
- Ensure all cleaning supplies and equipment are properly stored and maintained
- Follow safety protocols during all cleaning and maintenance activities to prevent accidents or injuries
- Support special cleaning projects or deep-cleaning tasks as scheduled or needed
- Adhere to health and safety regulations to promote a safe working environment for staff and visitors
Skills
- Proven experience in cleaning or commercial cleaning is advantageous
- Knowledge of facilities maintenance and basic repair skills is a plus
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to perform tasks thoroughly and efficiently
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment such as vacuums, buffers, and floor scrubbers safely
- Good organizational skills to manage supplies and complete tasks on time
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while following established procedures
- Physical stamina to perform repetitive tasks including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
