Position: Elders Support Worker
Reports to: Cultural and Administrative Services Manager
Hours: Full-time
Wage Range: $22.00-$29.00/hour

Job Summary
Reporting to the Cultural and Administrative Services Manager, the Elders Support Worker is responsible for supporting SFN Elders to participate in the development and delivery of the SFN Language and Culture Program. This role includes strict adherence to culture and organizational protocols such as SFN Health and Safety Protocols and All SFN Policies.
Responsibilities:
- Engage and respond to Elders’ needs. Evaluate feedback and determine the most appropriate design of projects to meet these needs.
- Coordinate Elders participation in language/Culture activities.
- Ensure the health and safety of the Elders.
- Proposal or grant writing and/or fundraising when required.
- Complete required reporting for programs, as required.
- Report to the Cultural and Administrative Services Manager, General Manager, Membership, Chief & Council, and to Funders as required.
- Schedule and organize regular opportunities for Elders to come together to speak SFN Language.
- Assist Elders to participate in specific language programs such as filming, classroom presentations, classes, and other community events.
- Communication duties such as calendar of events, newsletters, posters for Elders to understand.
- Complete work plans monthly.
- Track which Elders participate, developing ways for more participation.
- Ensure timely processing of honorariums and follow the amounts of the SFN Honorarium Policy.
- Follow SFN Financial Policies for financial management including creating project budgets, monthly reporting, ensure cheque requisitions are approved by Cultural and Administrative Services Manager
Qualifications, Education and Experience:
- Successful completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Certificate or diploma in Administration
- Completion of Home Care certificate is an asset.
- A combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Experience with budgeting, grant or proposal writing.
- Understanding of Stellat’en Language and Culture is an asset
- Knowledge of Stellat’en Elders needs.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Ability to operate computer systems and relevant software including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point and Xyntax.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Enthusiasm, flexibility, dedication and commitment to community language.
- The ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Safety oriented.
- Class 5 BC Driver’s License.
- Criminal Record Check.
