Position Overview
Kin Gymnastics is seeking enthusiastic Recreational Gymnastics Coaches to lead recreational gymnastics classes throughout the 2026/2027 season, with schedules ranging from approximately 6 to 24 hours per week based on availability.
The Recreational Gymnastics Coach role will be responsible for leading assigned groups, delivering structured training, and supporting athletes throughout their early gymnastics training. This role reports directly to the Rec Program Director and offers the opportunity to positively impact young athletes while continuing to develop your own coaching skills and experience. Compensation is highly competitive and scaled based on experience, certification level and performance, with opportunities for growth as responsibilities increase.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver structured gymnastics classes and engage young athletes through creative, energetic classes that build confidence, coordination and foundational gymnastics skills.
- Provide motivation, constructive feedback and encouragement to keep everyone happily challenged in learning new skills.
- Track athlete progress and complete regular assessments, so families know what their child can expect to achieve next.
- Follow policies and procedures and assist in maintaining a clean, safe and organized training environment.
- Actively participate in coaching clinics and team meetings and continually develop coaching competencies and effective use of equipment, rotations and circuits.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with athletes, parents and fellow team members.
- Act as a role model within the coaching team, fostering a collaborative learning environment and delivering your training with commitment, energy and enthusiasm!
Qualifications & Requirements
- Recreational coaching experience, or experience as a high-performance athlete is preferred, but not required.
- Being enrolled in Physical Education, Sports Science, or having completed coaching training courses or certifications (e.g., NCCP Foundations training or certification) is advantageous, but practical coaching ability and attitude are what matter most, as long as you are willing to pursue the required NCCP certification.
- Respect in Sport, Making Ethical Decisions (MED), Safe Sport training/certification or willingness to obtain.
- Current First Aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain.
- Current Enhanced Police Information Check or international equivalent.
- Proficiency in English is required and fluency in a second language can be an asset.
Work Schedule
- Weekly hours ranging from approximately 6 up to 24 hours will be based on the training schedule and your availability.
- Starting date in August 2026.
Compensation & Benefits
- Compensation is competitive and includes paid time off with an initial pay rate based on experience and certifications.
- Exceptional coaches will have opportunities to grow into senior recreational or competitive coaching roles based on performance, increased responsibilities and an ongoing pursuit of gymnastics certification.
- We subsidize the development of our coaches by financial support for coaching courses, certifications, and training camps.
- Health benefits (dental, life and extended health care) can be offered to anyone working at least 24 hours per week.
