Living Sky Catering is looking for a Catering Cook to join our growing kitchen team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, works well in a fast-paced kitchen, and is comfortable supporting all areas of catering food preparation and event execution.
This role will begin as part-time/casual, with the opportunity for hours to grow as our catering calendar and event venue continue to get busier.
About the Role
The Catering Cook will support the catering kitchen with prep, cooking, event food assembly, buffet setup and maintenance, dishwashing, cleaning, and general kitchen duties. Our events range from corporate catering and private gatherings to weddings, plated dinners, buffets, and venue events at The Copper Lantern.
The successful candidate should have a strong foundation in food preparation, be comfortable using a knife, and have an understanding of basic cooking techniques. This is a hands-on role that requires flexibility, attention to detail, and a willingness to jump in wherever support is needed.
Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients and menu items according to kitchen standards and event needs
- Assist with cooking, portioning, and assembling food for plated meals, buffets, and catering orders
- Support event food execution, including buffet setup, replenishment, and maintenance
- Assist with packing, organizing, and preparing food for off-site catering
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen workspace
- Wash dishes, clean equipment, and support end-of-shift cleanup
- Follow food safety standards and kitchen procedures
- Work as part of a team to ensure events and catering orders are prepared accurately and on time
- Assist with general kitchen duties as needed
Qualifications
- Previous kitchen, catering, restaurant, or food service experience required
- Comfortable with basic food preparation, knife skills, and cooking techniques
- Able to follow recipes, prep lists, and instructions
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently
- Positive attitude and willingness to support all areas of the kitchen
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team
- Able to stand for extended periods and lift/carry kitchen supplies up to 75 lbs
- Availability for flexible shifts, including some evenings and weekends
