Summary
Your priorities as a Combustion Engineer will be the development of clean-burning wood combustion and the certification of various Hearth Products. You will be involved in combustion testing, recording observations, data analysis, design, and technical report writing. Your recommendations will be used in the design of new and existing products. This position provides an exciting opportunity to learn and contribute to developing innovative, industry-leading low-emission wood-burning hearth products and will provide hands-on experience in the full product development cycle.
This quick-paced environment focuses on providing our customers with clean burning, efficient, safe, and reliable products.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow standardized testing and set up procedures
- Conduct combustion tests
- Collect data and record observations throughout the testing period
- Conduct results analysis; recommend/implement changes to improve results
- Assist in the design of prototypes
- Provide written technical analysis documents, including certification test reports
- Maintain test equipment and structures to ensure a controlled testing environment
- Assist with field return root cause investigations
- Maintain professionalism and act in a manner consistent with PE principles.
- Contribute to a positive work environment focusing on Lean and continuous improvement initiatives
- Follow all Health & Safety programs; actively participate in Health & Safety training with the purpose of gaining knowledge and understanding
- Ensure the workplace is organized and tidy
- Other related duties as required
- Mentoring Lab technicians as needed.
Required Skills
- A willingness to learn
- A strong interest in research, product testing, development, and problem-solving
- Ability to conduct research in a thorough, detailed, and organized manner
- Understanding of basic engineering principles
- Understanding basic standards for testing environments
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Hands-on approach, with a mechanical aptitude
- Strong communication skills (written/verbal) in English
Education/Training
- Post Secondary Diploma (or higher) in a related field or equivalent experience.
Compensation
- $28.00 - $35.00 per hour based on experience
