We are looking for an energetic and motivated Special Projects/ Over-the-Counter sales / Inside sales representative for our Saskatoon Branch.
This role is responsible for ensuring that customer requirements are fulfilled in a timely, professional, and courteous manner. This role works with customers to identify their need, recommend products and services, process customer orders, and troubleshoot or answer questions throughout the process. The incumbent aims to be a product expert in order to best serve customers
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Sorting, storing and issuing parts and supplies for customers
· Responding to phone/email product inquiries
· Preparing quotes (estimating) for counter/phone/email customers
· Detailing specific product required for orders, including hardware, specialty products and hollow metal
· Completing sales orders
· Receiving and processing customer payments accurately
· Pulling material from warehouse
· Assist in inventory management and restocking as needed
· Communicate with purchasing regarding stock levels and special orders
· Creating purchase orders and/or transfer orders for required products as required
- Coordinate small projects of up to $100,000, including pricing project work, collecting estimates, tendering jobs, placing orders, amending orders as needed, and liaising with other departments to ensure timely and cost effective fulfilments are made
· Ensuring high levels of customer service to clients using different mediums including in-person interactions, emails, phone calls, and other modes to reach customers, prioritizing work-load
- Make recommendations to customers based on their needs, specifications, industry codes, and product design to facilitate their purchase and provide an exceptional product and support service
· Managing walk-in clientele and front counter work, while creating a positive and welcoming atmosphere
· Efficiently tracking and documenting all counter orders into company systems, including inbound support requests, contractor queries, and purchase orders
· Resolving customer and order issues, correcting discrepancies, and finding solutions to problems
- Maintain an up to date understanding of the company’s products and services, the customer’s experience with the products, market needs, and market trends
- Observe and adhere to all safety policies and identify and report unsafe work practices or conditions
- Must be able to travel 20% (one day per week). Reliable vehicle is required and gas mileage will be provided.
Qualifications, Education and/or Experience
· Minimum High School Diploma
· 2+ years of general commercial construction experience with proven ability to read blueprints
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint)
· Excellent planning, time management, communication and organizational skills
· Motivated self-starter and team player
· Strong ability to organize, plan, prioritize and work within deadlines
· Previous experience working on parts counter/retail sales
Preferred Skills
· Post-Secondary degree in Architectural diploma/degree is an asset, not required.
· 1-3 years of Sales experience is an asset
· 1-3 years of experience and/or product knowledge of metal doors/frames and related hardware, specialty items such as toilet partitions, lockers, washroom accessories, etc.
· Must be able to work well under pressure without direct supervision
· Ability to work with ERP systems/ Sharepoint/ CERP/ ePWS

· Some lifting/carrying products from Warehouse – Ability to lift up to 50lbs
· Phone and Windows based computers with various software programs
