JOB DESCRIPTION — RAMS ENGINEER

POSITION SUMMARY
The RAMS Engineer is responsible for ensuring that railway door systems meet international and customer-specific requirements related to Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, and Safety (RAMS) throughout the full product lifecycle — from concept and design to validation and in-service support.
This role is critical in managing technical risk, ensuring compliance with international safety standards, and protecting passenger safety and system performance.
The RAMS Engineer works closely with System, Hardware, Software, Mechanical, Project Management, and Production teams.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
RAMS Analysis & Safety Engineering
- Develop and implement RAMS plans in accordance with MIL-STD-882E, EN 50126, EN 50128, EN 50129
- Perform Reliability Predictions (MIL-HDBK-217F, FIDES)
- Conduct FMEA/FMECA and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA)
- Perform Hazard Analysis and maintain the Hazard Log
- Define and verify Safety Requirements for hardware and software
- Ensure compliance with Safety Integrity Levels (SIL 2–4)
Design Support & Validation
- Provide RAMS input early in system architecture and design phases
- Participate in design reviews (PDR, CDR)
- Review and approve test specifications for RAMS verification
- Support validation and certification activities
Maintenance & Lifecycle Support
- Develop Life Cycle Cost (LCC) analyses
- Analyze field data and failure statistics
- Identify reliability trends and propose corrective actions
- Contribute to maintenance strategies and spare part optimization
Documentation & Audits
- Prepare Safety Cases and Safety Justifications
- Manage RAMS documentation for customer submission and ISA
- Support internal and external audits
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering
- 3–5+ years in RAMS engineering (rail, aerospace, automotive safety-critical)
- Strong knowledge of CENELEC standards
- Experience with FMEA, FTA, reliability modeling
- Understanding of IEC 61508 and functional safety
- Strong analytical and communication skills

Pay: $85,000.00-$125,000.00 per year
