Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Woodworking Finisher to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for applying finishes, stains, and protective coatings to wood products, ensuring high-quality craftsmanship and attention to detail. This role requires a strong understanding of woodworking processes, mechanical knowledge, and proficiency with various tools and equipment. The Woodworking Finisher plays a vital part in delivering finished products that meet our quality standards and client expectations.
Responsibilities
- Apply stains, paints, varnishes, and sealants to wood surfaces using brushes, spray equipment, or hand tools
- Prepare surfaces by sanding, cleaning, and masking to ensure smooth finishes
- Operate machinery such as sanders and spray booths safely and efficiently
- Use hand tools and power tools for detailed finishing work and touch-ups
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to adhere to safety standards
- Inspect finished products for quality, consistency, and defects before packaging or delivery
- Collaborate with assembly and machining teams to ensure seamless workflow
- Follow safety protocols related to the use of equipment forklifts and other manufacturing machinery
Requirements
- Mechanical knowledge of woodworking machinery and finishing techniques
- Experience with hand tools, power tools, and spray finishing tools
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations during finishing processes
- Prior experience in manufacturing or assembly environments is desirable
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality control
- Ability to work safely with various equipment including power tools and welding apparatus
- Good communication skills and ability to follow detailed instructions
- Ability to interpret plans to ensure wood fixtures are accurate prior to completing finish
