Reporting to the Health Services Superintendent, the Industrial Hygiene Advisor will assist with tasks related to industrial hygiene and occupational health. Based at the Windfall site in the Nord-du-Québec region, the advisor will work a schedule of 15 days on followed by 13 days off. Transportation, accommodation and meals are provided.
Duties and responsibilities
- Inspect various work environments;
- Identify industrial contaminants and other health hazards;
- Develop a strategy and plan sampling campaigns;
- Calibrate and use various specialized devices and instruments;
- Conduct sampling on workers and in their work environment;
- Analyze results and make recommendations on appropriate means to eliminate, reduce, or control worker exposure;
- Write clear and structured technical and administrative documents while effectively presenting data;
- Ensure compliance with laws and regulations related to industrial hygiene and occupational health;
- Develop objectives, actions, and priorities in industrial hygiene and occupational health;
- Find sustainable solutions to issues related to industrial hygiene and occupational health;
- Participate in the development and updating of the industrial hygiene and occupational health program;
- Provide training and information across departments;
- Collaborate with other departments;
- Perform any other related tasks relevant to the success of the project.
Required qualifications
University degree in occupational hygiene;- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence;
- Hold the Registered Occupational Hygienist (ROH) designation (an asset);
- Have completed the Health and Safety on Construction Sites – ASP Construction training (an asset);
- Valid explosives permit (an asset);
- Hold mining modules (FMTM) 1-2-3-4-5-7 (an asset);
- Ability to communicate in English (an asset; will need to interact with English-speaking employees and suppliers).
Technical skills
Good knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.);- Experience in the mining or industrial sector (an asset);
- Experience working in a remote region on rotation (an asset).
