Job Description:
The daily responsibilities of an On Site IT Solution Specialist is required to travel and work from customer data centres, offices, and homes. This is a hand’s on role and requires that the candidate have experience in a wide variety of technology from home solutions to enterprise level solutions. There will be a good volume of customer interaction between the On Site IT Solution Specialist and clients. Therefore, customer service skills and the ability to handle and properly diffuse escalated situations is also an absolute skill in additional to one’s technical strengths. The candidate has to be confident in his logical thinking and problem solving skill as clients often regard you as a professional consultant. The ability to control the situation while resolving the issue is a key requirement.
Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot technical issues relating to Software, Hardware, Network or Server
- Create Run Book Documentation, Knowledge Base Articles and Training Videos
- Capture all configurations and update IT Build Books on a regular basis
- Provide Daily Reports of tasks and activities
- Providing on-site technical support for desktop PC, Network or Server
- Support Black Berry phones, Apple iPhones, Android Phones
- Provide training to our customers and employees
- Act as consultants to perform IT Infrastructure assessments and audits to improve process, hardware or systems
- Provide Professional or expert advice for IT related issues
- Responsible for setting up all new hardware, including servers and network routers
- Monitor and maintain the computer systems, networks, and main infrastructure of a business or an organization
- Transport allowances will be provided.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills / Experience:
- Customer Service and problem resolution skills
- Ability to Collaborate and work well with associates
- Logical thinking and problem solving skills. Being able to isolate problems down to the appropriate layers (i.e. Network, Application, Server or Client).
- Effective Organization and Reporting skills (reports of work progress, research and client communication/collaboration)
- Effective Knowledgebase and Researching skills (Vendor, Internal, and public such as Google)
- They must be proficient in many Internet applications, including FTP and e-mail clients.
- Microsoft Windows Desktop
- Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, File Server, and Domain Controllers
- Microsoft Office Suite all editions
- Working knowledge of hubs, routers, switches, and firewalls (D-Link, Linksys, SonicWall, Checkpoint and Fortigate)
- VMWARE, Hyper-V, and other virtualization technology
- Working Knowledge of Email Protocols and traffic flow
- Working Knowledge of Client/Server architecture
- General understanding of application code
- Understanding of networking (WAN, LAN, VPN, IP protocols, Subnet, and gateways)
- Knowledge of SAN, NAS and External storage device solutions
- Knowledge of Blackberry, Iphones and Industry standard smartphones.
- Basic Knowledge of VOIP and Telephony
- Strong communication and listening skills a
- Fluent in English - both written and oral communication skills
Nice to Have:
- Microsoft Exchange Server
- MAC OS X, Linux and Unix Experience
- Knowledge of Cisco and Microtek routers
- Working experience with VOIP (Cisco, PBX systems)
- Scripting experience (any language ie VBScript, Batch Scripting, Powershell, Python etc.) SharePoint Server
- Office Communication Server
- General IT security experience
Academic/Educational Requirements:
- College Diploma / University Degree in any IT related field
Nice to have:
Salary:
- Salary: $40,000 to $50,000 (Depending on Experience)
- Must have own vehicle (Travel expenses will be reimbursed)
