JOB OPPORTUNITY – FINANCIAL CONTROLLER
Description
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Financial Controller is responsible for managing the firm’s financial reporting, regulatory reporting, and internal controls in accordance with CIRO and FINRA requirements and accounting standards. This hands-on role ensures accurate month-end and year-end financial reporting, timely regulatory filings, audit coordination, tax compliance and filings, and effective oversight of accounting operations.
Responsibilities include:

Manage and oversee the monthly and annual financial close process, including monthly and annual regulatory reports for both CIRO and FINRA registered dealers

Lead day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, and corporate/indirect tax functions

Lead the annual audit process and act as the primary point of contact for external auditor field work inquiries

Manage treasury functions, bank reconciliations, and cash management

Preparation of corporate tax returns

Monitor and research IFRS developments and apply guidance as required

Provide accounting support to the firm’s various business lines, including Corporate Finance in connection with underwriting activities and financial advisory engagements

Support budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting processes as part of the FP&A framework

Oversee payroll processing, reconciliations, remittances, and year-end filings
-
Provide leadership and mentorship to the accounting team, supervising staff, supporting professional development and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation

Use data analytic tools to streamline processes, build management dashboards, and improve day-to-day efficiency
Qualifications and Requirements

CPA designation is required
-
8-10+ years of progressive accounting experience. CIRO regulated investment dealer or financial services firm experience would be considered an asset

Proven experience supervising and developing accounting teams

High attention to detail with the ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment

Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills

Self-motivated with a focus on driving results and strong sense of accountability

Demonstrated senior level management and leadership experience

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products with advanced Excel skills and Power BI experience

Comfortable learning new systems and technologies
