Job Summary
As a Registered Nurse, the Associate Director of Care is a vital leadership role responsible for overseeing the delivery of high-quality senior care within a long term care home environment. This position involves supervising care staff, ensuring compliance with Ontario’s FLTCA, and fostering a compassionate, resident-centered atmosphere. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive experience in senior and dementia care, and a thorough understanding of healthcare operations. The Associate Director of Care plays a key role in maintaining operational excellence, managing budgets, and supporting the overall well-being of residents.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and mentor caregiving staff to ensure delivery of exceptional resident care
- Oversee daily operations of the care department, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards and company policies along with the Director of Care.
- Coordinate and monitor medication administration to residents in compliance with healthcare protocols
- Develop and implement care plans tailored to individual resident needs, including dementia and senior care strategies according to the RAI manager
- Manage staffing schedules, recruitment, and training initiatives to maintain optimal team performance
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, families, and external agencies to support resident health and safety
- Assist with budgeting, resource allocation, and inventory management for the care department
- Ensure compliance with all provincial regulations governing long term care home facilities
- Promote a positive work environment that emphasizes teamwork, compassion, and professional development
- Works closely along with the Director of Care
- Must be flexible and able to multitask in a fast paced environment
Experience
- Proven experience in a long term care home setting with a focus on senior or dementia care
- Supervisory or leadership experience managing healthcare teams or caregiving staff
- Knowledge of medication administration procedures and healthcare regulations
- Strong background in nursing or related healthcare fields preferred
- Experience with staff scheduling is valuable.
- Demonstrated ability to lead with compassion while maintaining high standards of resident care
- Ability to speak French is valuable but not essential
Pay: $72,449.94-$127,002.99 per year
