The Opportunity
We are looking for a Quality Control Specialist to ensure our fresh produce meets the highest quality, safety, and regulatory standards. In this role, you will be the frontline defender of our brand reputation, performing critical inspections to minimize waste and ensure only the best products reach our customers.

What You’ll Do
- Conduct thorough inspections of incoming and outgoing produce for size, color, ripeness, and defects using tools like Brix testers and penetrometers.
- Maintain food safety standards by monitoring cold-chain integrity, storage temperatures, and humidity levels.
- Document and track quality data including rejections, corrective actions, and lot codes to ensure 100% traceability.
- Manage non-conforming products by segregating defective items and coordinating with warehouse and regrade teams for proper disposition.
- Support audit readiness by adhering to HACCP, GMP, and CFIA regulations and participating in continuous improvement initiatives.
What You Bring
Must-haves:
- High school diploma or GED.
- 2–3 years of experience in produce handling, quality control, or food inspection.
- Strong knowledge of produce grading standards and quality attributes (Brix, pressure, temperature).
- Ability to use QC tools (scales, calipers, pulpers) and digital inspection software.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand/walk for extended periods in a cold environment.
Nice-to-haves:
- Post-secondary education in Food Science or Agriculture.
- HACCP, GMP, or other recognized food safety certifications.
- Familiarity with CFIA regulations and customer-specific quality protocols
This position does not require Canadian experience beyond the skills and qualifications listed above.
Work Environment
- Active role based primarily in cold storage, receiving, and shipping zones.
- Fast-paced, high-volume environment requiring high mental focus and sensory detail.
- Standard hours with flexibility required during peak seasonal shipping periods.
