Job Summary
Seafair Animal Clinic and Ironwood Animal Hospital are seeking a dedicated, friendly and reliable Veterinary Assistant to join our compassionate veterinary team. The ideal candidate will support veterinarians and veterinary technicians in providing high-quality care to animals. This role offers hands-on experience in a clinical setting, contribute to animal health and well-being, and develop valuable skills for a future career in veterinary medicine.
Duties
- Assist veterinarians and technicians during examinations, treatments, and surgeries
- Prepare animals for procedures, including restraining and positioning
- Clean and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment
- Administer medications as directed by veterinary staff
- Monitor animal vital signs and observe behavior for any signs of distress
- Maintain accurate records of treatments, medications, and procedures
- Support laboratory tasks such as collecting samples and processing tests
- Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the exam room, surgery, treatment area and reception area
- Provide compassionate care and comfort to animals during their visit
- Provide occasional relief or assistance with reception duties
Qualifications
- Prior veterinary assistant experience is preferred
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Compassionate attitude towards animals and clients
- Ability to handle animals safely and gently in various situations
- Basic understanding of animal health and safety protocols
- Flexibility to work varied shifts at both clinics including weekends or evenings

Pay: $18.00-$28.00 per hour
