Overview
We are seeking a certified Water Treatment Operator/Maintenance role (Class I-IV Water Treatment) to join our team at Port City Water Services (PCWS). This role is vital in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the Loch Lomond Drinking Water Plant located in Saint John New Brunswick. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge, CMMS and job planning, experience with water treatment operations and laboratory testing, Report writing, along with safety and quality control. The ideal candidate will be organized, able to plan and manage tasks on a schedule, physically fit to operate industrial machinery, hand tools, tractors and vehicles. They should also be physically capable to climb stairs, ladders and at times lift heavy objects. Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain water treatment equipment to ensure compliance with contractual, government and other related safety and environmental standards
- Conduct routine inspections and troubleshooting of equipment and treatment systems
- Perform complex tasks related to equipment maintenance and installation and asset management
- Manage the operation of water treatment processes through the use of computerized Maintenance Management systems (CMMS) work orders and ordering
- Monitor water quality parameters and adjust treatment processes accordingly utilizing SCADA controls
- Document operational data accurately and report any anomalies or system failures. Log book and spreadsheet entry is a key function
- Assist in the installation, repair, and upgrade of treatment systems as needed. Perform routine building and grounds maintenance including lawn care, janitorial and plant cleaning as required
- Follow all safety protocols and participate in regular safety training sessions
Qualifications
- Proven mechanical knowledge with experience in operating & troubleshooting Water Treatment plants and equipment with CMMS and scheduling/planning software
- Prior experience working within the Water and Wastewater sector is preferred
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely (up to 50 pounds or more)
- Strong understanding of water treatment processes and systems
- Ability to handle treatment chemicals and working safely with all required PPE
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Physical stamina for extended periods of standing, walking, or working in challenging environments
- Relevant certifications or training related to water treatment including class I-IV Water Treatment certification or able to attain through reciprocity in NB.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced setting
- Ability to read and write in English with French & Spanish considered an asset

Pay: $25.22-$37.45 per hour
