The Registered Nurse provides timely psychiatric clinical consultation services to inpatients with a primary medical diagnosis or concern who are experiencing concurrent mental health concerns on various medical/surgical units throughout Foothills Medical Centre. This psychiatric consultation liaison service is comprised of one Clinical Nurse Specialist along with three registered Nurses, and a team of psychiatrists and learners.
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of Recovery Alberta. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 - $55.79 per hour. Upon being entered into the register as a Registered Nurse, the rate of pay will be adjusted in accordance with the UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in the area of acute inpatient mental health within the last 5 years Minimum of 1 year of direct clinical experience in a medical surgical area within the last 5 years A willingness to learn, work independently within specific timeframes with minimal supervision, maintain excellent interpersonal relationships with the interdisciplinary teams, students, referral sources and other stakeholders, and an ability to effectively communicate with medical teams about complex mental health/medical issues is crucial. A demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a small dynamic team along with a strong biopsychosocial knowledge base is essential.
