Position: Intermediate SCM Buyer
About the Position
Canada Keli New Technology Development Ltd. is seeking an Intermediate SCM Buyer to support procurement activities for Wellpad Module Fabrication projects.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing procurement activities for piping, electrical, instrumentation, and fabrication materials while supporting project schedules, cost control, supplier coordination, and fabrication execution.
This position may be based in Calgary, AB or Nisku, AB, depending on project requirements, and currently follows a 5 days on / 2 days off work schedule.
Responsibilities
- Review IFC drawings, MTOs, specifications, and material requisitions for piping, electrical, and instrumentation scopes
- Prepare and issue RFQs to approved vendors and suppliers in accordance with project requirements and procurement schedules
- Solicit quotations for piping materials, valves, fittings, flanges, electrical equipment, cables, instruments, and related fabrication materials
- Evaluate supplier quotations based on pricing, delivery, technical compliance, commercial terms, and project schedule requirements
- Perform bid tabulations and commercial comparisons to support procurement recommendations and award decisions
- Coordinate with Engineering, Estimating, Construction, and Project Management teams to clarify technical and commercial requirements
- Verify material compliance with project specifications, AML/AVL requirements, and client standards
- Negotiate pricing, lead times, freight terms, and commercial conditions with suppliers to achieve cost-effective procurement solutions
- Issue Purchase Orders and ensure procurement documentation is properly maintained and tracked
- Monitor supplier performance, fabrication progress, and delivery status to support module fabrication schedules
- Expedite critical materials and coordinate with vendors to resolve shortages, delays, or non-conformance issues
- Maintain procurement logs, quotation records, pricing history, and supplier databases for future estimating and benchmarking purposes
- Support project cost control by tracking procurement budgets and identifying cost-saving opportunities
- Coordinate logistics and delivery schedules with warehouse, fabrication shop, and site construction teams
- Assist with change orders, material revisions, and additional procurement activities during project execution
Qualifications
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
- 2-4 years of SCM, procurement, or buyer experience in oil & gas, module fabrication, construction, or industrial projects
- Experience procuring piping, electrical, and instrumentation materials preferred
- Strong understanding of MTOs, fabrication drawings, and project specifications
- Experience with RFQs, bid evaluations, purchase orders, and vendor coordination
- Strong communication, negotiation, and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced project and fabrication environment
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Experience with SAP, ERP systems, or procurement software considered an asset
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting oilsands or module fabrication projects
- Familiarity with Alberta industrial construction practices
- Knowledge of AML/AVL and client procurement standards
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
