THE OPPORTUNITY:
Our client is a well-established Canadian contractor with a strong reputation for delivering major mechanical construction projects across the infrastructure sector. With a robust project pipeline and continued growth, they are looking to add an experienced Mechanical Estimator to their preconstruction team.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
As a Mechanical Estimator, you'll be responsible for preparing accurate, competitive estimates and supporting the tendering process from opportunity identification through project handover. Your responsibilities will include:

Preparing detailed cost estimates for mechanical construction projects including labour, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and indirect costs.
- Reviewing drawings, specifications, and contract documents to identify project requirements, risks, and opportunities.
- Performing quantity take-offs and labour calculations.
- Soliciting, evaluating, and leveling subcontractor and supplier quotations.
- Preparing RFIs and clarifications during the bidding process.
- Coordinating bid submissions, tender documentation, and pricing strategies.
- Participating in site visits, pre-bid meetings, and post-tender reviews.
- Supporting procurement activities and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
- Assisting with project turnover by converting successful estimates into project budgets and handover packages.
- Working closely with operations teams to support project execution, productivity tracking, change pricing, and claims when required.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

4+ years of estimating experience with a mechanical contractor.
- Experience estimating mechanical construction projects involving municipal, or water/wastewater infrastructure.
- A diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction, or related field.

Professional membership with organizations such as PEO, OACETT, or AACE.

Strong understanding of construction methods, estimating principles, and cost control.
- Experience preparing quantity take-offs and developing complete bid packages.
- Working knowledge of construction scheduling concepts (CPM).
- Proficiency with estimating software such as Accubid, SmartBid, or similar platforms.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- The ability to manage multiple tenders while meeting critical deadlines.
