Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Cleaner to join our team. This role involves maintaining cleanliness and safety across various facilities, ensuring a hygienic environment for staff and visitors. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, excellent time management skills, and the ability to handle cleaning equipment efficiently. Prior custodial or commercial cleaning experience is preferred but not required, as training will be provided. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where customer service and professionalism are valued. Job will be in multiple locations in Nanaimo.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and disinfecting surfaces in commercial or facility settings
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and cleaning equipment safely and effectively to maintain high standards of cleanliness
- Use custodial supplies and chemicals responsibly while adhering to safety guidelines
- Conduct facilities maintenance tasks such as minor repairs or reporting larger issues to management
- Assist with heavy lifting tasks when moving furniture or equipment to ensure thorough cleaning coverage
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to promote safety and efficiency
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding completed tasks or any issues encountered
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing client needs promptly and professionally
Skills
- Experience with custodial duties, commercial cleaning, or facilities maintenance is highly desirable
- Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and cleaning equipment safely
- Strong time management skills to complete assigned tasks efficiently within scheduled shifts
- Physical stamina for heavy lifting and prolonged periods of standing or walking throughout the facility
- Excellent communication skills for effective teamwork and customer interactions
- Attention to detail to ensure all areas meet cleanliness standards
- Ability to follow safety procedures diligently and handle cleaning chemicals responsibly
Pay: From $21.00 per hour
