Health Care Aide (HCA) – Part-Time

Compensation: $20.00–$22.00 per hour
Position Summary
Alberta Home Care and Disabilities Services Inc is seeking a compassionate, reliable, and professional Health Care Aide (HCA) to provide in-home care and support to a client with mobility limitations and complex care needs. The successful candidate will assist with personal care, medication administration, mobility support, and activities of daily living while promoting the client's comfort, dignity, safety, and independence.
Reporting To:
Supervisor and/or Program Manager
Key Responsibilities
- Provide personal care assistance, including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting.
- Assist with mobility, transfers, repositioning, and the safe use of mobility equipment.
- Administer medications in accordance with agency policies, training, and client care plans.
- Assist with meal preparation, feeding support as required, and hydration monitoring.
- Monitor and report changes in the client's physical, emotional, or cognitive condition.
- Maintain accurate documentation and complete required care notes.
- Communicate effectively with family members, healthcare professionals, and agency staff.
- Perform light housekeeping duties related to the client's care, including laundry, linen changes, and maintaining a safe environment.
- Follow all agency policies, procedures, confidentiality requirements, and health and safety standards.
- Promptly report concerns, incidents, and client status changes to the Supervisor and/or Program Manager.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Health Care Aide Certificate from a recognized educational institution.
- Registered and in good standing on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory.
- Medication Administration certification or equivalent training.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience providing personal care and home care support.
- Legally authorized to work in Canada.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and effectively in a home-care setting.
- Professional, compassionate, and client-focused approach to care.
- Punctual, dependable, and reliable.
- Ability to maintain client confidentiality and professional boundaries.
- Experience assisting clients with mobility challenges, transfers, and activities of daily living.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting clients with mobility challenges and complex care needs.
- Experience using lifts, wheelchairs, hospital beds, and other mobility equipment.
- Experience working in home care or community-based care settings.
