Economic Development Officer (EDO)

The Township of Terrace Bay is seeking a knowledgeable and motivated individual to fill the position of Economic Development Officer (EDO).
The EDO will work towards advancing the Township’s Strategic Plan priorities related to economic development. This position is responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing initiatives that support business growth, economic diversification, investment attraction, tourism development, and regional collaboration.
The successful candidate will serve as a visible municipal contact for the local business community while facilitating connections between businesses, entrepreneurs, regional partners, and support organizations.
Key Responsibilities
- Business engagement and community liaison
- Investment readiness and attraction
- Economic development planning and strategic initiatives
- Collaboration and partnerships
- Administrative coordination and reporting
- Support tourism and promotional initiatives
- Assist with funding opportunities and project development
Key Outcomes
- Improved engagement with the local business community
- Increased investment readiness for commercial and industrial development
- Strengthened connections between Terrace Bay businesses and regional support organizations
- Advancement of initiatives identified in the Township Strategic Plan
Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in economic development, business administration, public administration, planning, marketing, or a related field
- Experience in economic development, municipal government, business support, project management, or community development considered an asset
- Strong communication, research, organizational, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Knowledge of government funding programs and grant writing considered an asset
- Valid Ontario Class G driver’s license and reliable transportation required
