Job Overview
We are seeking a knowledgeable and patient High School English Tutor to support students in developing strong reading, writing, grammar, and critical thinking skills. The tutor will help students improve academic performance, prepare for exams, and build confidence in English language arts through personalized instruction.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one or small-group tutoring sessions for high school students
- Assist students with:
- Essay writing and editing
- Reading comprehension
- Grammar and vocabulary
- Literature analysis
- Research and citation methods
- Help students prepare for quizzes, tests, and standardized exams
- Create customized lesson plans based on student needs and learning styles
- Review homework assignments and provide constructive feedback
- Track student progress and communicate updates to parents or guardians when required
- Encourage positive study habits and time management skills
- Maintain a supportive and professional learning environment
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field preferred
- Previous tutoring or teaching experience is an asset
- Strong knowledge of high school English curriculum and literature
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Patience, reliability, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to explain concepts clearly and adapt teaching methods
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with provincial/state curriculum standards
- Experience with online tutoring platforms and digital learning tools
- Ability to motivate and engage students with different learning abilities
Pay: $20.00-$27.00 per hour
Work Location: In person
