Job Description:
We are seeking a motivated and dependable individual to join our team as a Team Leader. In this role, your primary responsibility is to ensure that youth participants are safe, supported, and fully engaged throughout all program activities. You will play a hands-on role in creating a positive, structured, and culturally respectful environment where youth feel comfortable, included, and motivated to participate. This role reports directly to the Program Coordinator.
The Team Leader is responsible for:
- Support the Program Coordinator and staff in delivering daily activities, workshops, and on-the-land programming
- Supervise and accompany youth participants throughout all activities, ensuring their safety, well-being, and active participation
- Act as a consistent point of contact for youth, providing guidance, encouragement, and support
- Foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive environment among participants
- Prepare and set up materials and spaces required for activities (e.g., tables, chairs, supplies, equipment)
- Ensure youth have all necessary materials, clothing, food, and water for each activity
- Coordinate the movement of participants between locations and activities in a safe and organized manner
- Assist with troubleshooting basic technical needs (e.g., presentations, sound systems) prior to activities
- Maintain ongoing communication with the Program Coordinator regarding daily operations, challenges, and updates
- Clearly communicate schedules, expectations, and instructions to participants during activities and events
- Act as a liaison between program staff and youth participants, ensuring information flows effectively
- Welcome and support guest speakers, facilitators, and participants during program activities
- Encourage youth participation, teamwork, and respectful behaviour
- Support group facilitation and help manage group dynamics during activities and workshops
- Provide informal translation support during sessions when required
- Assist in procuring and organizing supplies, food, and materials needed for activities
- Coordinate logistical needs with partners (e.g., facilities, transportation providers, community organizations)
- Support volunteers and ensure alignment with program activities
- Assist with the preparation of meals (traditional and non-traditional) for participants and staff
- Ensure participants are properly nourished and hydrated throughout the day
- Support the daily functioning of camp life, including transitions between meals and activities
- Enforce program rules, safety protocols, and behavioural expectations
- Ensure all program spaces are safe, clean, and well-maintained throughout the duration of the program
- Monitor participant safety in all settings, including indoor, outdoor, and on-the-land environments
- Support emergency response procedures as required
- Assist with documenting activities (photos, notes) when required
- Support daily debriefs with staff to reflect on activities and identify improvements
- Adapt to changing circumstances and support the team where needed to ensure program success
The selected candidate must possess the following:
- Spoken fluency in English and Inuktitut, French is considered an asset
- Experience in working with community-led initiatives
- Experience working with youth
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work in a diverse team
- Strong sense of responsibility and accountability
- Known demonstration of showing up on time for work
Education and experience requirements
- Secondary 5 and diploma of high school completion
- 2 years of experience in working with youth
- NS and/or CEGEP/college experience considered a huge plus
- Any forms of volunteering will be considered a plus
- Hiring priority to beneficiaries of the JBNQA, Inuvialuit Final Agreement, or Labrador Inuit Land Claims Agreement

Nunavik (Puvirnituq, Quaqtaq, Kanqisujuaq or Salluit)
: 15 weeks
$35.40 per hour
Nunavik Cost-of-Living Allowance, Housing (if not in home community)
35 hours per week.
