Reporting to the Lead, National Student Recruitment, the Recruiter is part of the Admissions & Recruitment (A&R) team who work to support learners at various ages and stages to discover pathways into art & design education. As an OCAD University (OCAD U) ambassador, the Recruiter connects with learners virtually and in-person in high school classrooms, university fairs and various education events, and meets with teachers, supporters and families. The Recruiter supports applicants to find the right program fit and prepare their best application or portfolio for admission. The Recruiter plays an important role in supporting the University in how it achieves its enrolment targets, while providing valuable insight into how the University can better support future generations of OCAD U students.
Summary of Responsibilities:

Participate in overall strategic A&R planning, events and communications

Assist in the planning, development and implementation of student recruitment initiatives, special projects, events and communications
- Represent OCAD U in in-person and virtual public speaking engagements such as presentations, university fairs, events, and workshops about OCAD U programs, portfolio and application process, student life and community, as well as life in Toronto

Participate in virtual recruitment programming (e.g. virtual school visits, online information-sessions, virtual portfolio reviews)

Travel to secondary schools and event locations across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and Ontario

Participate in University information program events and independent school visits across Canada as required
- Support the University’s recruitment enrolment targets and objectives through data entry, report writing and clerical work

Promote OCAD U’s pre-university programs and services as well as available awards, scholarships and bursaries
- Support the recruitment team in other recruitment activities contributing to the successful operation of the A&R Office
Qualifications:

OCAD University degree and an obvious esteem for art, design and OCAD U
-
Knowledge of all OCAD U programs, curriculums and admissions requirements

Some knowledge of Ontario and provincial high school curriculums

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, web management software and familiarity with CRM/database applications an asset

Demonstrated strength and comfort with public speaking and an ability to present detailed information clearly and promote the University in a positive manner

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment

Demonstrated commitment to the principles of equity and diversity, and experience promoting a respectful work and learning environment for students, staff and faculty

Valid Ontario G class driver's license is mandatory
- Flexibility in work hours; must be willing to work irregular hours (occasional evenings and weekends), as required
Mode of Work: On Campus
Compensation: $24.83 per hour, plus 4% vacation pay and 7% in lieu of benefits.
Hours of Work: This is a part-time, casual opportunity. Hours will vary to a maximum of 30 hours per week. This is a temporary contract expected to begin August 24th and conclude on December 4th, 2026.
Schedule: Monday to Friday, must be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends as required
