Position Overview
This is a hands-on leadership position for an experienced carpenter who takes pride in quality workmanship and leading by example.
The Lead Hand/ Lead Carpenter will work alongside the crew daily while helping coordinate site activities, mentor junior team members, and ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to company standards.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being on the tools, solving problems, and taking ownership of their work without the administrative responsibilities of a full foreman or project manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform skilled carpentry and residential renovation work daily
- Lead by example and maintain a productive work environment
- Assist with the execution of full-home renovations, additions, kitchens, bathrooms, and basement projects
- Coordinate daily tasks with crew members and apprentices
- Help ensure projects remain on schedule and meet quality expectations
- Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Complete protection, demolition, framing, structural work, drywall/taping, bathroom waterproofing (schluter systems), finishing carpentry, trim, doors, painting, cabinetry installation, and general renovation tasks
- Identify and communicate site challenges and solutions
- Maintain clean, safe, and organized job sites
- Assist with material organization and inventory management
- Work collaboratively with subcontractors and project management
- Uphold company standards for craftsmanship and professionalism
Qualifications
- 5+ years of residential construction and renovation experience
- Strong carpentry and renovation skills
- Experience leading small crews or mentoring/training junior employees
- Proficiency in framing, finishing carpentry, trim work, and general renovations
- Ability to read blueprints and construction drawings
- Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Own professional-grade hand and power tools
- English proficiency in written and verbal communication
- Working at Heights certification is considered an asset

Schedule
- Monday to Friday
- Typical hours: 9 AM – 5 PM
- Occasional overtime or weekend work as required
