We are looking for a dedicated experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team at Roncesvalles Animal Hospital.
Our ideal candidate is someone who has a certificate from a college animal care program and/or equivalent work experience in a veterinary hospital. You will work closely with our Veterinarians and RVT'S to provide the best care for our patients.
You will be assisting in the daily appointments, and any in hospitalized medical cases and/or surgeries. This can include but is not limited to the following:
- Overseeing the pets safety and comfort while the Vet is doing their exams and treatments
- Restraining for blood draws and medical treatments
- Assisting the RVT in prepping patients for, monitoring, or recovering from surgery
- Preparing and discussing vaccines & medications with owners
- Contributing to the stocking, cleaning and maintenance of the hospital and all it's supplies and equipment.
- Using Avimark software, (vet based program) email, word, excel etc.
- Responding to incoming calls and emails, assisting the Customer Service Representatives.
- Knowledge of basic pet wellness, prevention, vaccines and nutrition
- Accurate record keeping, maintaining, inputting and reviewing digital medical files.
Once you are comfortable in the position, we are happy to help support your growth into other areas of interest; taking blood samples, processing in house lab work, providing more in depth client education.
You should exhibit excellent communication skills, and be a logical thinker. We provide both medical services as well as customer service and it is of utmost importance that our communications are friendly, warm, clear and accurate with both our teammates and our clients.
Compensation is based on experience level.
