Job Summary
This entry‑level Finance Assistant role is an excellent opportunity for early‑career professional looking to build hands‑on experience in accounting, bookkeeping, and administrative financial operations. Working directly under the Finance Manager, you’ll gain exposure to a wide range of finance functions.
In this role, you’ll support day‑to‑day financial operations, including data entry, bookkeeping, payroll support, and billing activities. You’ll work with tools such as QuickBooks, Dext, Plooto, and Payworks, giving you practical experience with widely used financial software. This position offers room to grow, with opportunities to take on more responsibility as your skills develop.
Duties
- Support AP Processing by performing data entry related to invoices, payments, and expense tracking
- Full-cycle bookkeeping which includes: month end processing, AR processes, AP processes) using Quickbooks Online, Dext & Plooto
- Assist with bookkeeping tasks, including reconciling accounts and maintaining accurate records
- Support administrative functions such as filing, document proofreading, and organizing financial documents using Payworks
- Provide backup support for Payroll & Benefits Management
- Support Doctor Billing/Medical appointment billing
- Retail AR oversight and tasks including collection calls and on site visits
Schedule:
This position offers 40 hours per week, with flexibility offered to choose a schedule between 8AM-4PM or 9AM-5PM.
To support payroll operations, the Finance Assistant must be available to work 8AM-4PM on Wednesdays, on on a bi‑weekly basis.
In addition, the last Thursday and Friday of each month are designated collection days, during which support may be required. This task involves independent travel between site locations within Edmonton to collect payments. The Finance Assistant will serve as backup support for this function and will be scheduled as needed when the primary team member is unavailable.
Requirements
- 2-5 years of Bookkeeping experience is required
- 1 year of Medical Billing experience is preferred
- Proven familiarity with QuickBooks Online, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in data entry, typing, and proofreading
- Clerical or administrative experience, preferably in a medical or dental office setting is a plus but not required
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively
- Knowledge of bookkeeping principles and basic financial procedures
- Strong customer service skills with professional phone etiquette
- Professional experience that demonstrates attention to detail and reliability

Pay: $23.00-$25.00 per hour
