We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Support Worker (PSW) to join our Long‑Term Care team. In this role, you will provide essential hands‑on care, support, and assistance to residents living in a 24‑hour care environment. The ideal candidate is committed to enhancing quality of life, promoting dignity, and ensuring safety through respectful, person‑centered care. As a PSW in Long‑Term Care, you play a vital role in supporting resident independence, comfort, and well‑being within a regulated care setting.
Responsibilities
- Provide safe, respectful assistance with all Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, continence care, and mobility support
- Support safe resident mobility and transfers using proper techniques and equipment to prevent falls and injuries.
- Assist with meals, hydration, and feeding, ensuring dietary needs, preferences, and safety precautions are followed.
- Maintain a clean, safe resident environment including tidying rooms, laundering personal clothing, and following infection‑prevention protocols.
- Observe, report, and document changes in resident condition to the nurse promptly and accurately.
- Follow individualized care plans, including dementia‑care strategies, responsive‑behaviour approaches, and mobility/transfer requirements.
- Support restorative care and independence, encouraging residents to participate in daily activities to the best of their ability.
- Adhere to all LTC Act standards, including abuse/neglect prevention, infection control, safety protocols, and resident‑rights legislation.
- Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary team members to ensure consistent, person‑centered care.
- Requirements
- Prior experience working with long-term care facility settings.
- Successful completion of a Personal Support Worker (PSW) Certificate Program from a recognized Ontario institution.
- Current Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC)
- TB test and up‑to‑date immunizations as required by Long‑Term Care regulations.
- Demonstrated commitment to resident dignity, safety, and person‑centered care in a Long‑Term Care environment.
- Language asset: Cantonese and/or Mandarin speakers are an asset for supporting residents with diverse cultural and linguistic needs.
