Position Summary
Dze L K'ant Friendship Centre Society is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Janitor to join the Friendship Centre Cub House team.
The Janitor plays an important role in maintaining a clean, safe, healthy, and welcoming environment for children, families, staff, and visitors. This position is responsible for cleaning, sanitizing, and supporting the overall upkeep of the facility while ensuring childcare health and safety standards are met.

Key Responsibilities
Facility Cleaning and Sanitation
- Clean and sanitize classrooms, washrooms, common areas, offices, kitchens, and staff spaces.
- Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces, toys, furniture, and childcare equipment.
- Vacuum, sweep, mop, dust, and maintain floors and surfaces.
- Empty garbage and recycling containers and maintain waste disposal areas.
- Replenish cleaning supplies, paper products, and hygiene materials.
Health and Safety
- Follow childcare sanitation standards, licensing requirements, and organizational policies.
- Use cleaning products safely and according to manufacturer instructions.
- Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, or repair needs promptly.
- Support infection prevention and illness control procedures.
Building Maintenance Support
- Perform minor maintenance tasks as appropriate.
- Assist with seasonal facility upkeep and outdoor maintenance.
- Support room setup and cleanup for meetings, events, and cultural activities.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for children, families, staff, and visitors.
Qualifications
Required
- Experience in janitorial, custodial, facility maintenance, or related work.
- Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
- Medical Clearance.
- Ability to safely lift, carry, and move cleaning equipment and supplies.
Preferred
- Experience working in childcare, educational, health, or community facilities.
- Knowledge of safe cleaning and sanitation practices.
- WHMIS training.
- Experience working within Indigenous communities or organizations.
