Who We Are
MMS is a small, specialist mining maintenance company. We maintain and engineer solutions for blast hole and DTH drill platforms — primarily Sandvik — at remote mine sites across western Canada. We are not a large shop with a supervision chain. We are a tight team of technically excellent people who take quiet pride in doing difficult work properly.
We muster in Calgary. We fly in. We do the work. We fly out.
The Role
You will maintain and repair complex drill equipment in a remote FIFO environment. You will work with hydraulic systems, electronic controls, and custom-engineered solutions. Some of what you'll encounter won't be in any manual. That's the job.
What We're Looking For
The skills matter. The person matters more.
We do well with people who grew up fixing things out of necessity — farm equipment, machinery, vehicles — where the consequence of doing it wrong was real and immediate. That background tends to produce the kind of judgment and self-reliance this work demands.
Technically, you should have a working foundation in hydraulic systems (open and closed loop), exposure to electronic controls or CAN-bus systems, and the fabrication instincts to make something work when the off-the-shelf solution doesn't fit.
Personally, we're looking for someone who:
- Finishes what they start, without being told twice
- Is more comfortable being quiet and competent than loud and impressive
- Reads a situation before acting — listens before talking
- Takes safety seriously because they've seen what happens when you don't
- Wants to become genuinely excellent at something, not just certified
Experience Level
We're open to candidates from 3rd year apprentice through journeyman. If you have your ticket, great. If you're on your way and you have the right foundation, we want to hear from you too. The level matters less than the instinct and the disposition to grow into a specialist.
What This Is Not
This is not a job for someone who needs close supervision to stay productive, or who requires a structured environment to function. You will work remotely, sometimes independently, and you will be expected to make good decisions when no one is watching.
What We Offer
Competitive compensation for the right person. FIFO rotation with genuine work-life separation. A small team where your contribution is visible and your development is real. We will invest in making you better — technically, systematically, professionally. The goal is mastery, and we mean that.
If this sounds like the way you already think about work, we'd like to hear from you.
To Apply
Send a short note — not a form letter — telling us where you're from, what you've worked on, and why this sounds like the right fit. Resume appreciated but not the deciding factor.
