About Pathways To Wellness
Pathways To Wellness is a free, community-based Crisis Intervention and Rapid Access Counselling Centre serving Lloydminster and the surrounding area. We provide immediate support to individuals experiencing mental health challenges, emotional distress, suicidal ideation, and crisis situations. Our mission is to increase access to timely, compassionate mental health support by offering a safe, welcoming, and responsive environment where individuals can receive help when they need it most.
As our services continue to expand, we are seeking a Casual Crisis Interventionist to join our team and support community members through crisis intervention and short-term counselling services.
Position Summary
The Casual Crisis Interventionist provides immediate support to individuals experiencing mental health crises, emotional distress, suicidal ideation, trauma-related concerns, anxiety, depression, and other urgent mental health challenges. Working within a trauma-informed, client-centered framework, the successful candidate will conduct crisis risk assessments, develop safety plans, provide brief counselling and stabilization support, and connect clients with appropriate community resources. This position is primarily intended to provide evening and weekend coverage on an as-needed basis, with occasional daytime shifts available when additional support is required.
This role is ideal for a compassionate, adaptable, and skilled professional who is passionate about helping individuals navigate difficult circumstances and access the support they need.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide immediate crisis intervention and emotional support to individuals accessing walk-in services.
- Conduct suicide risk assessments and develop collaborative safety plans.
- Deliver brief, solution-focused counselling and stabilization services.
- Assess client needs and facilitate referrals to appropriate community resources and support services.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential clinical documentation.
- Collaborate with internal staff, healthcare providers, emergency responders, and community partners when appropriate.
- Support a welcoming, inclusive, and culturally responsive environment for all clients.
- Participate in ongoing supervision, training, and program development activities.
- Respond professionally and effectively to high-risk situations requiring crisis intervention and safety planning.

Qualifications
Required
- Degree or equivalent education in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, or a related field.
- Relevant experience supporting individuals experiencing mental health challenges, crisis situations, or significant life stressors.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and de-escalation skills.
- Ability to work independently while exercising sound clinical judgment.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed, client-centered, and culturally responsive practices.
Preferred
- Experience in crisis intervention, suicide intervention, emergency mental health, or brief counselling settings.
- Training in suicide intervention and risk assessment (e.g., CAMS, ASIST, SPRAM, or equivalent).
- Training in Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Psychological First Aid, and/or related approaches.
- Training in Counselling on Access to Lethal Means (CALM) or related suicide prevention approaches.
- Knowledge of local mental health, healthcare, and community support systems.
- Registration or eligibility for registration with a relevant professional regulatory body is considered an asset.
