The Antigonish Women’s Resource Centre & Sexual Assault Services Association (AWRCSASA) is seeking applications for an Youth Program Coordinator for the Healthy Relationships for Youth (HRY) Program—a peer-facilitated violence prevention program delivered in schools across Nova Scotia.
The Healthy Relationships for Youth (HRY) Youth Program Coordinator will coordinate the delivery of the HRY program within the Strait Regional Centre for Education (SRCE), the Cape Breton-Victoria Regional Centre for Education (CBVRCE), and participating First Nations communities.
Building on existing partnerships, the successful candidate will strengthen relationships with Indigenous communities, gather community feedback, refine program resources and curriculum, and support the implementation of HRY programming in collaboration with youth, educators, and community partners.
Working under the direction of the Provincial HRY Coordinators, the Youth Program Coordinator will also support the ongoing implementation, evaluation, and regional growth of the Healthy Relationships for Youth program while collaborating with the broader HRY team to ensure consistent, high-quality program delivery.
Working as part of the Healthy Relationships for Youth team, the HRY Youth Program Coordinator will:
- Continue building and maintaining respectful relationships with First Nations communities, Indigenous organizations, youth, and Elders.
- Continue community engagement activities to identify local priorities, assess interest, and support the expansion of the HRY Program.
- Facilitate discussions, focus groups, and consultations to gather feedback that informs ongoing curriculum and resource development.
- Update HRY curriculum and program materials through an Indigenous lens in collaboration with community partners.
- Coordinate and facilitate HRY programming in First Nations communities in Mi’kma’ki.
- Support the delivery of HRY programming in the Strait Regional Centre for Education and Cape Breton-Victoria Regional Centre for Education as needed and provide ongoing support.
- Recruit, train, and support youth facilitators, partner organizations, and classroom teachers.
- Work closely with regional coordinators to revise curriculum, resources, and presentation materials.
- Coordinate program planning and evaluation.
- Develop detailed work plans and time frames for program coordination.
The successful candidate will have the following skills and qualifications:
- An undergraduate degree in Education, Women’s and Gender Studies, Social Work, or a related field, or a combination of relevant education and experience.
- Experience working with youth and facilitating groups.
- Strong relationship-building skills and experience collaborating with community organizations and schools.
- A feminist and culturally relevant analysis of violence prevention.
- Demonstrated understanding of anti-racism, reconciliation, and culturally responsive practice.
- Experience working with Indigenous communities, or a demonstrated commitment to building respectful relationships with Indigenous peoples and organizations.
- Excellent facilitation, communication, organizational, and report-writing skills.
- Strong report writing skills and excellent inter-personal communication and networking skills.
- Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, take initiative, and contribute effectively as part of a collaborative team.
This position requires regular travel. A reliable vehicle and valid driver’s licence are required. Mileage will be reimbursed in accordance with organizational policy. Occasional evening and weekend work will be required. This position may be based in our Antigonish office, with flexibility for hybrid or remote work where operationally appropriate.
This is a full-time, contract position with the possibility of extension, subject to funding. The successful candidate will work 35 hours per week at a starting wage of $25.40 per hour. The position is eligible for health and dental benefits after a waiting period.
