About The Role:
The Gardens of Peterborough are premier retirement communities serving Peterborough and the Kawarthas. What sets us apart is our commitment to service and our dedication to care in everything we do. As a Shuttle Driver, you will play an important role in helping residents maintain their independence and active lifestyles. Reporting to the Activities Director, you will transport residents from all four Gardens locations to appointments, community events, shopping trips, and recreational outings.
As the friendly face of our organization, you will build meaningful relationships with residents while ensuring their safety, comfort, and enjoyment during every trip. You will also be responsible for the safe operation, inspection, and maintenance reporting of the shuttle vehicle. This is a rewarding opportunity for an individual who enjoys working with seniors, values exceptional customer service, and takes pride in creating positive experiences for others.
Key Responsibilities
· Safely transport residents to appointments, outings, and community events
· Greet, assist, and interact with residents while boarding and exiting the shuttle
· Load, secure, and unload residents using wheelchairs and other mobility devices
· Lift, store, and retrieve walkers, wheelchairs, and related equipment as required
· Ensure resident safety and security while travelling in the shuttle
· Conduct routine vehicle inspections and report maintenance concerns promptly
· Report any accidents, incidents, defects, or resident concerns in a timely manner
· Maintain transportation schedules and ensure timely pickups and drop-offs
· Always represent The Gardens of Peterborough and AON Inc. in a professional and courteous manner
Qualifications
· Valid Ontario F Class Driver's Licence with a clean driving record
· Minimum three (3) years of commercial driving experience
· Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
· Excellent communication skills and ability to build rapport with seniors
· Strong time management and organizational skills
· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
· Ability to safely assist residents with mobility needs and equipment
· Experience working with older adults is considered an asset
